My new obsession...

Handmade Soap!!

If you haven't already checked out Etsy you really should - you can find ANYTHING handmade - from clothing to paintings to baked goods (I found some really yummy Gluten Free Cookies - check out her shop if you are looking for some - Renots Handcrafted Goodness).
Don't they look yummy??

I have been trying to switch over our household to more natural products - I have already forbidden artificial sweeteners and HFCS in our kitchen, as well as most pre packaged products and things made with White Flour. Now I am moving to natural body care products - Toothpaste, Deodorant, Hair care, and my new obsession Handmade SOAP!
(Check HERE for a link to all of ETSYs Bath and Body care offerings).

The only problem I am having, is that there are so many wonderful sellers that I cannot decide!
So far I have bought from 2 wonderful sellers:

Crazytimescandles and SoapScentsations

I am loving this unscented soap from Crazytimecandles:

I cannot list all of the great shops, but check out my favorites for a few that I have looked at.

We had our 5 year check up today

and wohoooo....Anneke is actually capable of gaining weight!
4 lbs since last year in fact; putting her at a whooping 36 pounds ;-)
Still below 50th percentile, but at least she has put on some weight since last year.
42.5 inches which is actually above 50th percent (for the first time I think LOL).

everything else is good too - I did not realize that normal blood pressure for a child was so low (I think that is the first time it has been checked) or that normal vision for a 5 yr old is 20/30.
Look at all we learned today!

I have finished a dress and skirt today - hopefully if I have time tomorrow (and a willing model) I will have pics tomorrow!

ETSY Clearance!

I am trying to clear out a few of my Summer skirts on Etsy to make room for more "fally" items :-) I will be listing Halloween and Thanksgiving Skirts shortly.

First up are these 2 Lazy Daisy skirts - one is a size 3/4 and the other a 5/6 (although they really can be worn across several sizes depending on your length preference....) - I am practically giving these away!

It is already Halloween in the Boutique World....

Can you believe it???

almost made it...

well I came close, but I finally broke down and had 2 pieces of Chocolate last night :-(

Not bad for a first day I guess, and while weight loss is not the ultimate goal of this plan, I was down today and think I will keep losing if I keep up with it.

okay on to day 2 then ...

Also hoping to get something made today in between anneke's Girl scout camp and swim lessons, so maybe I will have something new to post tonight :-)

Almost through Day 1.....

I am almost through Day 1 of
No Caffeine
No Sugar of any sort
No Dairy
No Corn
No Potatoes
No Alcohol
and No Gluten (although that has been mostly true for about 6 weeks)

and right now I really want: a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, and a snickers almond bar LOL

Am I the only one...

who has never made Deviled Eggs? Seriously......my mom made them, the lady on our neighborhood social committee makes them (with pickle relish though - YUCK! :-)), and even Mark's mom made them...but I tried for the first time last night....

I found this Super cool website that tells you everything you need to know about making Deviled eggs.... http://www.deviledeggs.com/

of course I still managed to mess them up (might have started when I forgot to buy the dry mustard....or when I added too much garlic powder...or when Mark decided that adding the Parmesan cheese on the table would be good LOL).

*I* like how they came out, but others probably wont

Does anyone watch So you Think you can dance?

I am totally confused....Comfort came in for Jessica, but Jessica said she will be on the tour...
SO now that Kherrington is out of the competition, does that mean she also is out of the tour, while Comfort and Jessica are in??
That would totally suck for her - and in my opinion be totally unfair...not that I am a fan, but it just seems wrong to make the top 10 and then get thrown out.....

Ahh poor Gev - we all knew it would be Mark and Gev (or just maybe Twitch), and I honestly could not decide who I wanted to go home (or rather, who I wanted to stay more....). But I think I am happy to see Mark get another chance...

Wow Rice Chex are boring....

I just feel the need to say this for some reason :-0

I have been Gluten Free for about 3 weeks now - at least I am trying to be, but it is hard to do.
Anyway, after another 1.5 hours in another grocery store reading labels, I found a couple of cereals that appear to be safe (NOT the one called Rice Flakes BTW).
So I just had a bowl of Rice Chex...somehow I remember them being more interesting - maybe it was the sugar I put on them??
On a positive note, I found Wheat Free Soy sauce (did you know that almost all soy sauce has wheat? I didn't...) and these little Rice Crackers...Now the reason I am excited about the crackers is because we are doing some wine tasting in Solvang this afternoon, and we always have to snack on cheese, and now I have my own little crackers to replace the bread it always comes with!

gotta get ready to go, have a great weekend!

Happy Friday

Good Morning!

I am so happy to not be up at 5am today, sleeping til 7:30 is SO much better :-)
Today is the second to last of our Childfree days --Anneke has been at Oma's since Sunday. And tomorrow we are heading down to pick her up. We are going to make a stop in Solvang and hang out for the night, have a good dinner, and drink some wine, before we go to meet them in Ventura on Sunday. I guess that means I better be productive today!
So I hope to be away from the computer and actually sewing all day - we have a big group launch coming up and I dont have anything completed yet for it.....
So what is the Theme - would you believe Back to School and Fall???? It has been 100 degrees here all week long, so I am SO not thinking about BTS yet, but that seems to be what people are starting to buy. I have had a lot of interest on my Halloween set:

I should have a couple of more Halloween items for the launch.

I am also planning to redesign my popular Apples and Pears set (since I am out of one of the 2 fabrics and cannot seem to find it anywhere):

So I think it is Coffee time! I will check back soon :-)

Have a great day!

I will try to not be so boring :-)

Yes I know this is boring...
and it will probably stay boring, since I am not really sure what I will talk about.

But I just started yesterday, give me a chance to get a going before blasting me...pretty please? :-)

So here I sit at 5am - actually, I have been lying in bed awake for about an hour...because I have a bad habit of stressing about minor things..especially in the middle of the night or early morning...

SO I promise I will try to be more creative. But writing has never really been my thing....at least creative writing that is...I actually spent 5 or so years as a Technical Writer, but as many know, that is the epitome of boring/dry writing...

all right then, let me see if I can get something else productive done since I am up at the crack of dawn!

Introducing Simply Twirlable

,

I have been making these Twirl Tops with Applique Jeans for a while now. They have been very popular, because they have some great Twirl to them and they are very versatile.
People have asked me if I can make the top longer and sell it as a dress alone.....

So here they are :-)
My new "Simply Twirlable" Dresses!
Available in both my Etsy and Ebay stores....
But really I can make them in any combination of fabrics - have an idea, contact me through my Etsy Store www.annekepanneke.etsy.com

This last one is an OOAK (I have no more of this fabric)
It and the Matching Skirt set are vailable in my ebay store

My New Blog

I am totally clueless about how to do this blogging thing, but I decided it was about time to try :-)

Since I have spent the last couple of days working on logos and banners and me pages, I thought now was as good of a time as any....not that I really have anything interesting to say, but everyone tells me I need one!

So I put a header up there
(although I cannot figure out how to make it fit in the little box).
.....what do you all think? Too Cutsie? Too Pink?

I added a list of blogs (did I forget anyone? I am still trying to find all of you)
And now I am making a post....

Exciting huh?

Let see now...

lets see if I can get this started....
